Surface Treatment
Purpose
The Group promotes operations in the field, monitors development and makes proposals to The Federation of Finnish Technology Industries in this regard, and enhances cooperation between its members. Decisions regarding the activities of the group and their direction are made at the Annual Meeting. The group’s members are active in such fields as corrosion prevention, painting, hot dip galvanising and various electrodepositing coating methods. They also supply their clients with equipment used in surface treatment.
The Group operates within ManufacturingFinland (former Production and Service Network) in The Federation of Finnish Technology Industries.
Companies with operations related to surface treatment may join the Group as members. Today the Group has 21 members, including the major subcontracting suppliers of surface treatment.
At its Annual Meeting, the Group elects a Directorate with a maximum of 12 members; an Executive Group Secretary is nominated by The Federation of Finnish Technology Industries. Directorate members serve for two years. The Directorate may also call upon outsider experts to participate in their work.
Activities
The Group discusses technical and economic issues of common interest to the members and has published the terms of delivery for the field "MET Pinta 2007". The Group promotes research, training and education, publications and standardisation in the field and gathers information for its members. The Group has representatives on training and research committees nominated by the Ministry of Education. The Group arranges seminars, excursions to various plants and participates in the arrangement of Trade Exhibitions.
The Group cooperates with other organisations in the field, such as Suomen Galvanotekninen Yhdistys ry (Finnish Electroplaters Society) and Suomen Korroosioyhdistys ry (Finnish Corrosion Society).
